Always have backup

October 28, 2005

Just an important piece of advice both in life and if you own a computer/ipod/cell phone/digicam/etc.

I was in a situation where camera data wasn’t backed up and all the photos were lost.  This has happened to me on some occasions and have used PhotoRescue to recover them. (One of the best $25 investments that I’ve made and a must-own asset to all digital photographers.)  However, this damage was something that was beyond repair and the photos were irrecoverable.

I just bought a new Motorola phone and got the Mobile Phone Tools set from the Motorola.com site.  A safe (and fun) investment as well.  Not only can your sync your SIM card and cell phone phone numbers, but you can modify some of your existing mp3s and make them them into ringtones.  You can also take your exsiting photos, crop them, and transfer them to your cell phone for wallpaper.  If you have a PIM, you can sync your Outlook data with your cell phone via the Mobile Phone Tools, too.

Hitting the Big 3-5

October 25, 2005

It’s just a couple of minutes past midnight on October 25th, 2005 and I’m officially 35.  Every single year, I make a few goals.  Last year, I promised myself that I’d be running the New York City marathon and in a few weeks, that goal is going to be reached.

Another one was finding a job that I enjoy.  That’s the key word here.. enjoy.  I love my present job right now and couldn’t be happier.

My goals for this coming year?  Honestly, I haven’t written a definitive list yet, but here’s some things that have been on my mind:

  • Want to incorporate David Allen’s Getting Things Done philosophy to get more organized in my life.  Started doing that a couple of weeks ago and I love it.
  • Want to run a faster marathon

great tool to clean up MP3 tags

October 22, 2005

So, I found this great article shows you how to clean up any messy ID tags on your MP3s.  One of the tools is an app called MusicBrainz Tagger, which looks at your MP3, compares it to a database, and tags it with the correct artist, album, and track info.  If it can’t identify the track, then you can manually lookup the information and tag it yourself.  Great tool to clean up all my files in iTunes.

Running at Lemur Speed…..

October 21, 2005

November 6th is going to be a day of truth for me.  It’ll be the day that I’ll be running my 4th marathon, in New York City of all places.  About 29,999 runners and myself are running through the streets of New York, passing by the bouroughs of Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, Staten Island, and Manhatten.

That’s just plain crazy, but I’m going to enjoy every minute of it.
